Hampton City farm and park makes changes due to animal illness

Hampton's Bluebird Gap Farm made some changes after one of their animals became ill.

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Hampton's Bluebird Gap Farm made some changes after one of their animals became ill.

A viewer reached out to 13News Now concerned about the health of some of the animals after the horse barn closed this past weekend.

Rachael Fuance with the City of Hampton’s Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services said a horse is currently under medical care.

“We do have an animal under medical care for a serious health issue and for that reason, is not accessible to the public. The other animals are accessible and available to the public,” said Fuance.

Fuance also said recently a deer had to be euthanized at the farm.

“Regarding the deer, he was under medical care related to on-going health issues at the age of 20 and was euthanized three weeks ago per the vet’s recommendation,” said Fuance.
