Hampton police looking for suspect in drive-by shooting

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect that shot a 17-year-old in a drive-by shooting on Monday.

Officials received a call around 3:30 a.m. to shots fired in the 1st block of Rip Rap Road.

While officers were investigating at the location, a walk-in gun shot victim arrived at the Sentara Careplex.

The victim, a 17-year-old Hampton male was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The victim was walking in the area when a dark-colored sedan approached and someone from the car began firing toward the victim.

The male was hit once, and the vehicle fled the scene before officials arrived.

No further information was released.
