VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) --- The women at Dream Cake in Virginia Beach are on deadline Friday. They are putting the final touches on the biggest project in the business’s history.
“It’s a very important cake that’s 11 tiers tall,” said the cake’s designer Cache Clark.
They are making the welcoming cake for the Gerald R. Ford commissioning ceremony on Saturday.
“Working last night here until 1:30 a.m.,” said Clark. “The week has been 24 hours since Tuesday.”
They learned that the president will cut the cake during the ceremony.
It’s a tall order that required two months of planning and more than 300 cups of batter. They estimate the cake’s cost at $7,500.
Once they’ve finished building the cake at their Holland Road location, the women will transport the cake early Saturday morning to Naval Station Norfolk.
