CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- A family of three has been displaced following an early morning house fire in Great Bridge.
Captain Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department says firefighters were called to the 700 block of Tafton Way at 12:35 a.m. Arriving 10 minutes later, they found flames coming from a two-story home.
Harl Hockeborn tells 13NewsNow, he and his daughter, Emily, were both awake and heard the fire alams. Emily saw smoke coming from the guest bedroom, and curtains on fire. Hockeborn, his daughter and wife, escaped.
The family plans on rebuilding on the same land.
The fire, which caused parts of the roof and wall to collapse, was brought under control at 1:24 a.m., firefighters say.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.
