Man shocked while clearing tree limbs dies

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Police said Tuesday that a man who was shocked while removing tree limbs near power lines died from his injuries.

Muhammad Yahya Abdur-Raheem, 39, was working at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in the 3900 block of Airline Blvd. at 3:45 p.m. Monday when he was hurt. 

He was suspended in a tree, clearing away tree limbs, when one of those limbs touched a Dominion Power line. 

Crews removed Adbur-Raheem from the tree and took him to Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth.

Officer Kelly Elliott with the Chesapeake Police Department said Abdur-Raheem is from Newport News.
