Mother, daughter identified as victims in fatal 4-alarm fire in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Authorities have successfully identified the remaining two victims of a devastating fire that ravaged a senior living complex in Chesapeake nearly two months ago.

Officials tell us that 30-year-old Lydia Somerville and 54-year-old Saundra Somerville died in flames that consumed the Chesapeake Crossing Senior Community Apartments back in July.

Both Saundra and Lydia are mother and daughter.

The blaze took place in the early morning hours of July 15 after a lightning strike sparked a 4-alarm fire in the 1900 block of Robert Hall Blvd.

Three people died and six people were injured including four civilians and two firefighters.

More than 150 residents were displaced, but all were able to find living arrangements following the fire.
