Woman arrested after leading Chesapeake police on pursuit

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- A woman is facing charges after she refused to pull over for a traffic stop, leading police on a chase from Chesapeake to Portsmouth.

Chesapeake Police say an officer attempted to make a routine traffic stop at about 12:40 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Taylor Road and Portsmouth Boulevard. 

The driver refused to stop, and a pursuit began. Police followed the vehicle into Portsmouth, where the driver hit a curb in the 400 block of Mohican Drive, disabling the vehicle.

The driver, Tammie Becker, was taken into custody.

Becker is charged with felony eluding, disregarding a red light, and driving while license revoked. 

No injuries or property damage are reported.
