Work around the Gilmerton Bridge may cause delays for drivers

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Roadwork and extended lifts may cause delays for motorists around the Gilmerton Bridge for the next 2 months.

Motorists can expect extended lifts at the Gilmerton Brigde around 1 p.m. daily through May 26 and again June 6-9.

Work on the Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridge, which is adjacent to the Gilmerton Bridge, will close the railroad bridge to marine traffic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. This closing will potentially leave a long queue of marine traffic.

Drivers should plan ahead for potential delays around 1 p.m. each day.
