Police: Carjacking suspect caught driving victim's car days after it was stolen

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- One person has been arrested in connection to a carjacking that that left a 73-year-old man injured after he was struck by a car door.

The crime occurred just after 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22. 

Hampton Police say the victim picked up two strangers, a man and a woman, and drove them to a Waffle House, located in the 1800 block of West Mercury Boulevard. 

As the man walked out of the car, one of the suspects got into the driver's seat and attempted to flee the parking lot. 

Police say the victim was struck by an open door of the car as the suspects drove away in an unknown direction. 

The victim was taken to the hospital, treated and released. 

Police have arrested Alonzo Pernell Scott in connection to the incident. He was caught in Norfolk while occupying the victim's vehicle 5 days later.

Scott has been charged with one count of Robbery/Carjacking and one count Malicious Wounding. 

Investigators are still searching for the second suspect. She is described as a white female, late 20’s, heavy build, last seen wearing a halter top and a short skirt
