Hampton Police need help finding a shooting suspect

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) Investigators need your help finding a man who they are calling one of the suspects in a recent shooting.

The shooting happened just before 4 a.m. on October 29th on the first block of Derby Drive. 

Investigators say two suspects, one of whom is now identified as 20-year-old Paris Javon Cooper, went inside the victim's home, showed a gun and attempted to rob him. A physical altercation happened inside the home, during which Cooper allegedly shot the victim one time. 

Investigators say Cooper, and the unknown second suspect fled from the scene before police arrived. 

Cooper has warrants on file for the following: three counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, one count of Robbery, one count of Maiming, and one count of Abduction. 

No information is available about the second suspect. 

Anyone with information that will assist police is encouraged to contact the Hampton Police Division at 727-6111 or the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.  Tipsters can also send an anonymous tip via text message to the Crime Line by texting "HAMPTONPDTIPS plus your tip" to 274637 (CRIMES).  Crime Line callers remain anonymous and never appear in court.  If a Crime Line call results in an arrest, the caller is eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00.
