Suspect opens fire on SUV, injuring man

Police investigate afternoon shooting in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are asking for the public's help identifying a shooting suspect. 

The shooting occurred near the intersection of W. Pembroke Ave and Aberdeen Rd. just before 1 p.m., Monday. 

When police arrived on scene they found a man inside of an overturned SUV suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. That man was taken to a local area hospital. A woman was also in the SUV but she was not injured.

An investigation revealed that the two people were traveling southbound on Aberdeen Rd. and stopped at a traffic light when a red colored sedan pulled along side of the SUV and opened fire. 

The driver of the SUV turned onto W. Pembroke Ave. before losing control of the vehicle and overturning. 

The motive behind this shooting is unclear at this time.

Officials have not released any suspect information.
