Hampton shooting suspect arrested

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Hampton Police say they have caught the man involved in a weekend shooting.

Investigators say on Saturday afternoon, a 21-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle in the 2100 block of Kecoughtan Road, when he was approached by 25-year-old Steven Davon Holiday. Holiday allegedly pulled out a gun and fired one shot at the vehicle, hitting the victim.  Holiday then fled the scene.

The victim was able to make it to a hospital on his own, and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Holiday was apprehended on Tuesday morning. Police say he will be charged with one count of maiming, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Tipsters can also send an anonymous tip via text message to the Crime Line by texting "HamptonPDTIPS plus your tip" to 2744637 (CRIMES). Crime Line callers remain anonymous and never appear in court. If a Crime Line results in an arrest, the caller is eligible for a reward up to $1000.
