Man shot by car break-in suspects

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Hampton Police are looking for multiple suspects after a man was shot when he caught them rummaging through vehicles.

Investigators say it happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Friday in the first block of West Riverpoint Drive.  The victim was exiting his residence when he saw someone had gotten into his vehicle.  He saw five suspects nearby, at which time one of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired a single shot, striking the victim.

The gunshot victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say several other vehicles in the neighborhood had also been rummaged through,

The five suspects were all seen in a silver SUV.
