HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- No land on Hampton University's campus will be taken for VDOT's I-64 widening project, state transportation officials said Thursday.
The issue had been under discussion recently after VDOT told the school it may need to acquire part of its historic campus to widen the interstate leading to the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel.
During a board meeting of the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization, state transportation secretary Aubrey lane said no property would be taken from Hampton University for the project.
