Shooting investigation underway in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- A Hampton man is recovering in the hospital after he was shot, police say.

According to investigators, the shooting happened at about 10:44 p.m. Wednesday in the 2000 block of Seldendale Drive.  Arriving officers found a 25-year-old man with a single gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say a dark colored vehicle was traveling westbound on Doolittle Road when one of the people inside began shooting in the direction of the victim. The victim was hit by the gunfire, as were two unoccupied vehicles that were parked in a nearby parking lot.

The motive of the shooting is unknown at this time.

Several people were reportedly outside in the area at the time of the shooting, and police are hoping they will come forward with information about the shooting.

Crime Line callers remain anonymous and never appear in court. If a Crime Line call results in an arrest, the caller is eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
