Fire dept. vehicle involved in crash with injuries

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police responded to a traffic crash late Monday morning that involved a Newport News fire department vehicle and another car.

We're told the fire department vehicle was responding to a fire in the 3600 block of Roanoke Ave. when it struck a car at 35th St. and Wickham Ave.

An 18-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, was rushed to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators learned that the fire department vehicle was traveling north on Wickham Ave. and the car was traveling on 35th St. when both vehicles collided at the intersection.

Police have not yet learned who is at fault and no one has been charged at this time.

No other details have been released.
