Newport News Police: 24th Street shooting now homicide

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police said a man who was shot Saturday in Newport News has died.

The shooting happened Nov. 19 at the Bronx Deli located at the corner of 24th Street and Oak Avenue.

Brandon Maynard with Newport News Police said officers arrived to find 32-year-old Christopher Alexander Jordan, of Newport News, had been shot one time and was uncooperative.

Jordan was taken to a local hospital where his condition became critical. Authorities said Jordan was not expected to live.

On Nov. 22, Jordan succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 5:18 p.m.

Maynard told 13News Now the incident is now being investigated as a homicide.
