Police apprehend man, woman accused of shooting at cars in Newmarket

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A 21-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were arrested for allegedly shooting at three vehicles at KFC and Roses in the Newmarket area Tuesday afternoon.

Police were dispatched near Mercury Blvd. and Jefferson Ave. to respond to a shots fired call around 2:14 p.m. Tuesday.

They found a vehicle in the KFC parking lot and two vehicles in the Roses parking lot were both struck by gunfire.

No one was injured.

A short time later, officers spotted a silver vehicle occupied by two males and one female who were believed to be involved in the incident.

The subjects fled from police after the car stopped at South Ave. and Macon Ave.

Police pursued them on foot and were able to apprehend one male and one female. The second male is still on the loose.

Two firearms were located inside the silver vehicle and one firearm was located in the ditch line on South Ave.

Investigators are still working to learn more about the incident.
