Man arrested for robbing Wells Fargo in Newport News

UPDATE 11/21/2016:

Investigators have arrested 31 year-old Carl Elton Knightnor II in connection to the robbery. 

Knightnor has been charged with robbery and wearing a mask in public. 

ORIGINAL STORY:

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A person of interest is in police custody after a Wells Fargo bank was robbed in Newport News on Friday.

Officers responded to the bank located at 600 Thimble Shoals Blvd. at 1:15 p.m. after receiving word a robbery.

After investigating, police say a black male entered the bank, pulled clothing over his face, walked up to a teller and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene with an unknown amount of money.

Jamie Bastas with Newport News Police said officers currently have one person of interest in custody.

No weapon was displayed during the robbery. The robbery remains under investigation.
