911 tapes released from David Latham's death

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The 911 recordings from the night Norfolk Police Officer Michael Edington shot and killed a mentally ill man have been released.

A jury on Thursday found Edington not guilty of manslaughter in the 2014 death of David Latham.

Today, a judge released  the 911 calls and police conversations from the night of the deadly shooting.

Several family members called police, saying Latham was threatening them with a knife.

"My son has a knife and he's mentally disturbed," Audrey Latham says on one call. "Y'all got to get somebody out here."

Within minutes of the officers arriving on scene, the first shots were fired:

Even though the criminal trial is complete, the case is not over.  Latham's family has filed a $9 million lawsuit against Edington.
