Child injured after school bus crash in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police said one child was injured following a school bus crash on Hampton Blvd. and Baldwin Ave. Monday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to that location at 3:38 p.m.

We're told a Norfolk Public Schools bus driver attempted to make a left turn onto Baldwin Ave. across northbound traffic and collided with a red Pontiac sedan.

There were 32 children from Rosemont Gifted Academy on board the bus.

Dispatch says one child on board suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by a parent to be evaluated.

The driver of the Pontiac was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The bus driver was charged with failure to yield.

No other injuries after been reported.
