Coast Guard medevacs man after boat hits Little Creek Jetty

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a boat on the Little Creek Jetty in Norfolk on Saturday.

Watchstanders at Station Little Creek were notified around 6:35 p.m. that a 24-foot boat had run aground on the east side of the Little Creek Jetty carrying two people. One passenger suffered injuries to his face and arm, according to the Coast Guard.

A 45-foot response boat was sent at 6:40 p.m. and arrived on scene about two minutes later. Two members of the Coast Guard response team boarded the boat and helped the man into a stokes litter.

The man was taken to Vinings Landing Marina, where emergency medics took him to Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk.
