Hampton Roads millennial group hopes to connect with veterans through art

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) Millennials in Hampton Roads are inviting veterans and military families to a comedy event in hopes of engaging them with arts.

“Global Shapers Norfolk’s #WeAre757Millennials report showed local millennials have a strong
appreciation for our military community and support investment in the arts," said Clair Wulf Winiarek, Curator for the Global Shapers Norfolk group.

Global Shapers Norfolk, a millennial leadership group, is hosting a fundraiser for the Armed Services Arts Partnership on November 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Town Point Club in Norfolk.

The event will feature local veterans Isaura Ramirez and Jim King performing stand up company. A panel discussion on veterans, comedy and society will follow.

This event is part of Town Point Club's new "Cocktail with a Cause" event series. On the second Thursday each month, the club hosts a happy hour event to help benefit a local charity.
