Man dies after suffering medical emergency causing crash in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Investigators are working to learn more about a fatal crash that took place on Gabriel Dr. in Norfolk Monday afternoon.

We're told that shortly after 5 p.m., police learned of a crash with injuries in the 1300 block of Gabriel Dr.

First responders rushed to the scene and found a 40-year-old man inside the car unresponsive.

Medics rushed him to Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital where he died shortly after arrival.

Authorities learned that the man was driving southbound on Gabriel Dr. and suffered a medical emergency which caused him to veer of the road and strike a tree.

The man was the only person in the car. No one else was injured.
