Maury High School student allegedly brings gun to school

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A student at Maury High School is in police custody after a gun was found in a classroom Thursday morning.

Daniel Hudson with Norfolk Police says, around 11:30 a.m., a school resource officer was notified that a student may have had a gun on school property.

The 15-year-old student was quickly located and removed from the classroom. The school resource officer found a handgun during a search of the classroom.

The student has been detained and is being questioned by police.

Police have not released any details of charges at this time.
