Police identify man killed in Norfolk shooting

13News Now Ali Weatherton has the latest developments on the deadly shooting on Kitchener Ave.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Aaron James Richardson, 39, was shot and killed in Norfolk just after midnight.

Police said the shooting happened in the 3100 block of Kitchener Ave. 

There is no suspect information at this time. 

Police also tell us a church was vandalized near the scene of the shooting a few days prior. Mount Hermon Baptist Church officials located a shattered front window and reported the damage to police.

Investigators determined that the glass likely broke as a result of gunfire, which may have occurred anywhere between Nov. 21 and Nov. 24.

Evidence suggests no one was inside the church during the time of the vandalism and no injuries were reported.

The shooting that took place on Kitchener Ave. is under investigation as a homicide. Mount Hermon Baptist Church is located in the 3100 block of Lens Ave.

Police don't believe the two incidents are related, but they are still investigating.
