Sen. Mark Warner endorses Kenny Alexander for Norfolk Mayor

U.S. Senator Mark Warner endorsed State Senator Kenny Alexander for mayor of Norfolk.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- One of the Norfolk mayoral candidates now has the support of a U.S. Senator.

Democratic Senator Mark Warner officially announced his endorsement of state Senator Kenny Alexander on Friday afternoon. Warner made the announcement at a restaurant in Ghent. 

"I've known Senator Alexander for a long time, back before he was even in an elected office," Warner said. "He's got other good candidates running as well, but as somebody I've known for a long long time, I think he'll be a great mayor in Norfolk."

City Councilman Andy Protogyrou and Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe are also running for mayor.

The election is May 3rd. To vote in the election, you need to register by April 11th. If you plan on voting absentee, you have until April 30th.
