Three residents displaced following kitchen fire at Norfolk duplex

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Three adults have been displaced after a fire damaged a Norfolk home Sunday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., fire and rescue crews responded to a fire at a duplex located in the 2500 block of Middle Avenue, Battalion Chief Brian Nichols says. Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke inside a kitchen in one of the units.

Fire officials say three adult residents self-evacuated the home. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes.

The Red Cross is helping the displaced residents.

No injuries were reported.
