NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The guided missile destroyer USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109) is now docked in downtown Norfolk.

The public will be able to tour this ship on the Fourth of July at the Nauticus Pier. Tours will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

All visitors must show a valid photo ID card and pass through a security screening station prior to going aboard.  It is recommended that guests leave belongings in their vehicle, as all packages, bags and purses will be searched and hands can remain free to use handrails climbing on and around the ship.

Children are to be accompanied by an adult at all times; small children will have to walk or be carried as there are no access points for strollers and wheelchairs.

The ship's crew didn't have to travel far to dock at Nauticus. The USS Jason Dunham is homeported at Naval Station Norfolk.
