USS Vella Gulf returns home, just in time for the holidays

A special day at Naval Station Norfolk, more than 3-hundred sailors came home, just in time for Christmas.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- More than 300 sailors returned home on Friday after a deployment aboard the USS Vella Gulf.

The sailors aboard USS Vella Gulf (CG72), a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, were deployed to the 5th fleet area of operation, according to a spokesperson for the Navy. 

The ship and crew deployed from it's homeport, Naval Station Norfolk, on April 23.
