Portsmouth officer finds lost pup, makes her a K9 Unit for the night

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) A lost puppy that was found by a Portsmouth Police officer became a K9 Unit for one night.

According to a Portsmouth Police Department's Facebook post, Officer Westrick found the 6-month-old female shepherd mix in Churchland near the Suffolk city line early Monday morning.

The puppy was wandering around the area of Towne Point Road and Bamboo Road.

The puppy jumped into Officer Westrick's car and for the last hour of his shift she became an official "K9 Unit."

Unfortunately, the pup does not have any identifying information so that she could be reunited with her family.

If anyone has any information on who this puppy belongs to, please contact Animal Control Officer Ritchie at (757) 393-8430.
