Police: Speeding driver crashes, dies on I-264 in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- A man died after he lost control of his car while speeding on Interstate 264, according to Virginia State Police.

Police say Brett Mark Thompson, 29, was not wearing a seat belt when he sped through a curve on I-264 at exit 6, lost control and ran off the road striking a jersey wall. The accident happened just before 3 a.m.

Thompson was reportedly ejected out of the passenger side window of the pick up truck when the car hit the jersey wall.

Investigators don't know whether alcohol played a factor into the accident.
