2 dogs, cat rescued after shop building catches fire in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Fierce flames engulfed a shop building in Suffolk on Monday night.

Firefighters rushed to the 4800 block of Manning Road around 11:30, where they found a large metal shop building attached to a home fully engulfed in flames.

The shop building is a total loss, but firefighters managed to save the home.

That wasn't the only thing crews saved. Firefighters gave first-aid to a cat, found barely breathing. Two dogs were also rescued.

The family of three was displaced, and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.  

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
