Children get tasty lesson about Virginia produce in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- It was an all-out Crunch-A-Palooza at St. Andrew Preschool on Bridge Road Thursday when children learned about and celebrated Virginia produce.

The school held a farm-themed fall festival that included an apple crunch booth.

Children found out about the farming/growing process and learned about apples as well as the nutritional benefits of the fruit.

Families and community groups joined the children for the event which was put on by The Planning Council.

Apple Crunch Day is part of  Virginia Farm to School Week. Schools, government agencies, and local groups across the state observe the day.
