Driver indicted after crash that killed 3-year-old son

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police arrested a mother after an investigation into a crash that killed her 3-year-old son led to her indictment.

Tayler Symoine Scott, 21, of Raeford, N.C. faces charges of Cruelty and Injuries to Children, Reckless Driving -- Improper Brakes, Improper Passing on Double Line, and No Driver's License.

Scott's arrest came after the investigation into a wreck that happened on September 11, 2016 on Route 58 westbound at the Wilroy Road exit.

Police said Scott was heading eastbound in a Toyota when she lost control of it. The car crossed a grass median and hit a minivan.

Scott's son died at the crash scene. She was hurt seriously in the wreck and spent time in the hospital.

The people who were in the minivan were from Cary, N.C. They were treated at the hospital and released.
