No injuries reported when a skydiver got stuck in a tree in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A skydiver who became stuck in a tree was rescued by fire crews in Suffolk on Thursday morning.

The incident happened in the 2000 block of Meadow Country Road, just south of the Suffolk Executive Airport at around 10:40 a.m. The skydiver was stuck approximately 40 feet off the ground.

Police said the skydiver, who is a member of a Naval Special Warfare unit, was uninjured in the fall and called 911 himself from his cell phone, directing authorities to his location.

He was safely removed from the tree just before noon.

The skydive was coordinated by Arne Freefall Solutions, a government contractor that operates out of the Suffolk airport.
