Worker injured after forklift overturns in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A woman is in the hospital after the forklift she was operating overturned in Suffolk on Friday morning.

The accident happened around 9:47 at the Navy Exchange Service Command Distribution Center (NEXCOM), located in the 1000 block of Kenyon Court.

Investigators say the worker was injured when the forklift she was operating overturned and fell about five feet to the ground from a loading dock.

The woman was rescued from the forklift, as she was restrained by her seatbelt.  She received emergency medical treatment, including decontamination due to leaking battery acid from the forklift.

The worker was then taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
