VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- An immature great white shark named Gurney pinged off the Virginia Beach coast on Friday.
The 4'6" shark pinged off Virginia Beach around 3 a.m., and his twitter said he wanted to spend the holidays at the beach.
Gurney was tagged in Montauk, New York on August 11 by the research group OCEARCH. In total, Gurney has traveled 1,157 miles since being tagged. Before Virginia he last pinged off the coast of Maryland near Atlantic City.
