Suspect arrested, charged in armed robbery of real estate agent in Va. Beach

Suspect arrested for robbery and abduction.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Police have identified and arrested a man who allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint in Virginia Beach.

It happened around 11:35 a.m. Wednesday when emergency communications received a report from a woman stating she had just been robbed at gunpoint in the 5600 block of Odessa Drive.

The victim, a real estate agent, said she was contacted by a man who was interested in seeing a house that was on the market. When the suspect arrived, he robbed her at gunpoint.

The suspect then went to the 2300 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard and used one of the woman's stolen credit cards.

No injuries were reported.

Police have identified the suspect as 44-year-old James Anthony Weil Jr., of Virginia Beach. He was arrested late Wednesday night in the Lynnhaven/Holland area of the city.

Weil is charged with abduction, robbery and two counts of use of a firearm. He is being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility without bond.
