Part of Virginia Beach Blvd. reopens after water main break in Virginia Beach

A ruptured water main sends water surging down a busy roadway, and the problem isn't going away soon

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Eastbound Virginia Beach Blvd. lanes between Thalia Road and S. Kentucky Avenue have reopened after a large water main break closed the area on Wednesday.

The City of Virginia Beach tweeted about the water main break Wednesday morning.

The major repair was expected to be completed by 10 p.m. Wednesday, but officials pushed back their timeline to midnight. According to city officials, as of 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday crews were laying asphalt.

Just after midnight on Thursday, the city tweeted the repairs were finished and the lanes were back open.
