Regent responds to anti-Trump letter sent to Pat Robertson

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- More controversy in the presidential race.

Regent University is responding to an angry letter sent to school founder Pat Robertson.

A group of Regent law school alumni are upset about Donald Trump's rally at the school over the weekend. The alumni say Trump "contradicts the Biblical teachings," and does not align with the school's Christian principles.

They want Robertson to make it clear that Regent does not endorse Trump.

In a statement Wednesday, a Regent University issued the following statement in response to the letter:

Regent University has a long history of inviting political candidates to campus as a means to expose our community to various philosophical perspectives.

"All Presidential candidates registered in Virginia were invited to hold events at Regent. Mr. Trump accepted the invitation.

"We encourage feedback from our students and alumni and acknowledge their perspectives.

"We do not endorse or oppose any political candidates, but do encourage our community to participate in the political process."
