Rehabbed sea turtles set free at the Oceanfront

Rehabbed sea turtles released back to the ocean

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- On Thursday morning, a group of sea turtles were released at the Oceanfront, after being rehabilitated at the Virginia Aquarium.

Their names are Llama, Max, Chartreuse, and Sea Foam Green. Two of them got hurt by hooks, one was cold-stunned, and one got tangled in a fishing line.

The Aquarium's Stranding Response Team nursed all of them back to health.

The Stranding Response Team urges anyone who sees a stranded, entangled or hooked turtle to call the 24-hour hotline (757) 385-7575. If a turtle is hooked, bring it up onto the pier or boat using a net; do not attempt to remove the hook yourself or cut the line. If you cut the line, leave 2 feet attached. Keep the turtle contained in a quiet, shaded area until Stranding Response personnel arrive.
