Two people pulled from water in Virginia Beach

Rescuers pulled two people from a car after it went into the water near the boat ramp at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center on December 19, 2017.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A car accident sent two people to the hospital overnight in Virginia Beach.

It happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. in the 700 block of General Booth Boulevard, near the Virginia Aquarium boat ramp.

Tim Carroll, who works at the Virginia Aquarium, told 13News Now he heard someone screaming shortly after the crash, and saw a man holding on underneath the dock. He said another man was floating face down in water.

Arriving officers were able to quickly bring both men to shore and take them to a local hospital. One of the men has life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Virginia Beach Police Dive Team responded and pulled the vehicle from the water shortly before 5 a.m.
