Virginia Beach is considering a big move. There is now a plan on the table to bring City Hall to Town Center.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Virginia Beach is considering a big move. There is now a plan on the table to bring City Hall to Town Center.

Developer Armada Hoffler has submitted a proposal to the City Manager.

The proposed move would relocate city hall from Princess Anne to where the current Regal Cinemas sits in Columbus Village.

City Council isn't scheduled to officially hear the proposal until June 6. The city said it plans to hold public hearings later that month.

A decision could come in the fall.

The city hall relocation comes as part of a $100 million plan by Armada Hoffler to build up Town Center even more.

It calls for a new 350-room hotel, retail shops, apartments, office space, and a new movie theater.

According to the proposal, the development would be completed by 2021.

Right now, construction is already underway on a 9-story multi-use tower next to The Westin hotel.
