VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Virginia Beach Fire Department investigators believe an apartment fire was ignited by kids playing with a lighter.

Firefighters were called out to the 100 block of Sea Cove Court just before 11 a.m. on Friday.

Heavy smoke was seen out of a second story unit of the apartment building.

It took firefighters just over 15 minutes to put the fire out.

The fire remains under investigation but it is believed that children who lived in the unit where the fire started where playing with a lighter.

A fire separation wall in the building along with a quick and aggressive response by firefighters is credited for preventing the fire from spreading to the other apartments in the building adjacent to the unit where the fire started.
