Woman, 2 dogs hit by SUV in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A woman and her two dogs were hit by a car Friday morning in Virginia Beach.

Tonya Pierce with Virginia Beach Police says the accident happened at 6:59 a.m. at a cross walk at Buckner Boulevard and Rosemont Road.

The woman was reportedly walking her dogs when the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was on Buckner Boulevard making a left turn onto Rosemont Road. The driver did not see the woman and struck her, along with the two dogs, according to police.

The driver stayed on the scene and helped the woman take the dogs to her nearby apartment. Both dogs died.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The man driving the Jeep has been charged with reckless driving.
