New details into Va. Beach child pornography raid that left officer shot, wounded

Disturbing new details surrounding the Virginia Beach man accused of shooting a police officer.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WVEC) – Newly unsealed documents reveal disturbing details into a child pornography investigation at the home of a man charged with attempted capital murder.

Back in June, police said they executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Ohio Avenue under suspicion of distribution and possession of child pornography.

An officer was shot in the shoulder as he attempted to execute the warrant, court documents said. Bryan Cage, 46, was arrested in connection to the shooting.

Before this happened, documents detailed an almost year-long investigation of computer data suspected of coming from the home.

Police tracked IP addresses and “peer-to-peer file sharing” data, documents said.

A search turned up multiple files downloaded to the address that contained videos with images of girls believed to be as young as four years old, paperwork stated.

One video was documented as being labeled “2013 - Very Funny Girl Slidemovie”. Another page stated that a young girl was engaged in a sexual act with a cat. One video lasted for more than 19 minutes, according to court documents.

Police then carried out “physical surveillance” at the Ohio Avenue residence around the time of the search warrant. Documents stated during this time, a backyard “garage apartment” was discovered.

Neighbors said Cage lived there behind his parent’s home.

In addition to computers and other devices, another search warrant stated that police found rifles, handguns, ammunition and a tactical vest in the apartment.

Cage has not been charged with possession or distribution of child pornography. The investigation is ongoing, according to Virginia Beach Police.

The suspect has a preliminary hearing set for December 7.
