Norfolk Public Library is offering Fine Free Week

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Lost your library card, or have fees on overdue library books?

Norfolk Public Library is offering a Fine Free Week from Friday, July 7 through Saturday, July 15.

All fines and fees on overdue materials returned, and the lost library card fee will be waived.

The library asks if your fine is waived to donate a school supply item, but it's not required.

Please note fines and imposed fees will not be waived for lost or damaged materials or collection fees on lost items.

The Fine Free Week comes to Norfolk because the Slover Library is welcoming a traveling exhibition, Thinking Money: A Financial Expedition.

The expedition focuses on saving, spending, avoiding fraud and teaching how to navigate the ever-changing world of personal finance.

In September of 2011 was the last fine free opportunity offered at the Norfolk Public Library. A long-overdue book, "Butterflies Are Free," was returned after being checked out in 1986.
