BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. (WVEC) -- A suspect is behind bars after allegedly shooting and killing a man in Bertie County last month.
According to Sheriff John Holley, Bryan Okeffee Harrell's body was found inside a minivan next to a basketball court on Cedar Landing Road in Windsor, N.C. on Oct. 4. An autopsy found he had been shot twice.
Officials say 21-year-old Raqwan D. Freeman was arrested by the Bertie County Sheriff's Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation on Nov. 8 in connection with Harrell's death.
Freeman has been charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and financial card fraud. He has been placed in the custody of the Bertie/Martin Regional Jail.
