Lawsuits combined after OBX power outage

CAPE HATTERAS, NC (WVEC) -- Six lawsuits against PCL Construction are being combined into one, following an eight-day power outage earlier this year in the Outer Banks.

The contractor admitted to severing transmission lines serving Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands over the summer. Businesses are now looking to recover what they lost during the height of the tourist season.

To recoup all of the money lost, the suit seeks as much as $16 million.

Some who filed claims have already decided to settle with PCL.
